I've made a little more progress on my piece, a lot more scraps are attached and there is now a plastic sheet holding the back in place... however, it has not gone totally according to plan as the hot air gun I used to melt the plastic onto the chicken wire, has also melted the glue off of the other side, I had to let it dry, cool down and then glue the pieces on again. This has resulted in a very heavy piece of junk that I'm expected to make someone wear...
I tried it on myself and it is too heavy. The shoulders don't keep their shape due to the weight of the back, so I have attached curved plastic strips to the underneath of the shoulders so it stays. This has made it even heavier but it stays in place.
Me being Female, short, and not having very broad shoulders, I am the wrong shape for this piece. I haven't had a chance to try it on anyone male yet but I won't dare as there were bits that stuck out and poked my neck. I will add shoulder pads underneath (which hopefully won't show) to soften it a little bit.
All in all I'm not too pleased so far but it should be done by Friday, coincidentally that's when I have my first uni interview and my portfolio is not finished!
