V&A-
The 20th century room...
Really interesting artifacts and objects and I gained a great understanding about society, just through these objects. They are clearly objects possessed by wealthy people, but all of them refer back to a Greek style of beauty, with the linear drawings in the books and on the plate, and the use of china ornaments in white, quite like Greek marble statues. In the times, everything had a purpose, and served it well, but everything had a very new style to it, and this initiated the deco movement.
The Jewellery room...
Top left are just some portrait miniatures which I thought were beautiful so I've added these too! As with the 20th century collection, I believe that this selection of jewellery was kept by very wealthy women, as it is made of very expensive material, such as Onyx, Gold and Emerald. The green bracelet is what I imagined the jewellery would all be like, but I was suprised to see a lot of free and circular shapes like the gold clustered necklace above. The coned necklace isn't 1920s but I love it so I've put it in!
On my way from the V&A to the Saatchi Gallery (a longer walk than anticipated) I came across a lot of designer stores on Sloane Street, including a shoe designers, named Guiseppe Zanotti. I went in having researched him a little bit, and asked the assistant a few questions, I've found the perfect picture that illustrates exactly what she told me.
The first pair, the un-bedazzled flats, are her favourites, and the second is what she thinks sell the best, or generate the most interest from customers.
They only ever have one size of each shoe in store... once its gone, its gone! I told my friends this on the train back and they suggested 'limited fashion'- a style of shoes or a jacket etc, only available in the shops for one day! I thought this was awesome and it made me think of self destructing fashion, you can only wear it a certain amount of times before it blows itself up! Impractical but very unique.
The Saatchi Gallery-
This has nothing to do with my project but I enjoy visits to this gallery as I am always slightly scared by at least one of the exhibits...
This was the awesome but creepy one this time! I don't know how its done but they look really real! just in case its not clear They're tiny little winged people skeletons, riding and attacking insects!
There were more cool exhibits but They aren't really related to my project. The winner of the Saatchi School project is awesome though, his name's Harry Churchill, 12 yrs.
